Holly Rose - Edmonton Newborn Photography

Holly Rose's photosession was a gift from her Auntie to her parents. What a thoughtful gift! I came to her home 8 days after she was born and captured all of her perfect little features forever. All photos were taken in the comfort of her living room, a room chosen because of the beautiful window light.

"Auntie's kids" | Sherwood Park Family Photographer

It's not just mom's and dad's that want family pictures, sometimes it is auntie's, grandma's and grandpa's too! Heather wanted to have pictures of her 'kids', so we spent a fun hour laughing and capturing their connection. Meet siblings Mackenzie and Coleman, little Kian, and Coleman's girlfriend Kelsey. I think we've covered a few more walls with canvases!

Demolition! Don's Bobcat Service

I enjoy all kinds of photography - the challenge of finding a great shot in any situation always inspires me! Commercial photography is no different, I know how pictures tell a story, evoke emotion, and can draw people to a product or service.

My dad has been landscaping, shaping beautiful yards, creating sound building sites, and never-fail driveways ever since I was a little girl. His work is amazing, he and his machines truly work as one - and I learned a lot of my business sense from him: excellent customer service, hard work ethic, and working smart and efficiently.

He loves a good demolition, to see the power of his machines take down a structure. I've seen this twice (I have young sons who think Papa has the coolest job!) What always amazes me when he demolitions is how he folds every building onto itself, no mess. One neat pile in the end.

Enjoy the video!

Sherwood Park Newborn Session

There is nothing better than entering the home of a newly birthed - family! Adelyn's parents are so smitten with her, they are beautiful as a family of three. I was honored to be able to capture these sweet moments for all of them to enjoy forever. Even fur-baby Jaxson got in on the action!

Newborn Sessions can be photographed in your home, preferably in the first week of baby's life for those curly, sleepy baby pictures. Newborn sessions are $200 +GST.

Why Family Photography Is Important

A fellow photographer posed an FB question last night about whether photogs that do family photography are just in it for the money. He went on to call it cookie cutter photography, and said he would rather work with motivated models than a family consisting of dad who doesn't want to be there, and screaming children.

This got my fire up a little.

I truly believe that what I do is important. I certainly appreciate the beauty of model/styled photography, but move over buddy - let's examine what I'm offering the world. True connection. Love. Togetherness.  Celebrating Us.

A family who comes to me for photography is hoping to capture this moment in their lives. The kids are just this size, their personalities unique, the family synergy just so.  It won't be the same next year, but it is and always will be a part of who they are. Mom wants to remember now, the kids will look back on these images to remember who they are and where they came from.  Even dad will appreciate that he took the time to stand with his little girl or son who will grow up right before his eyes.

I captured a newborn session where 3 days later baby was rushed into the Stollery for emergency surgery, and spent several weeks fighting for his life. He succeeded.
I've captured an extended family session for a family who had talked about doing this for years - and regretted not doing one sooner when grandpa passed away suddenly. So they honored him by doing it anyway, one year after his passing. His cane sat in each of the pictures.
I've worked with a newly single mom who was bravely taking her first steps without dad - and used a photography session as a way to redefine - this is our family now. And that is okay.
And I've seen families grow in both number and size, I've seen babies go from push-ups to sitting, to standing and gulp - running!

There is nothing that I love more on this Earth than my three boys, and I recognize and aim to capture that love and connection in each family that comes before my camera.

Because they are worth celebrating.

Isaac at 6 months | Sherwood Park Children's Photographer

This sweet little boy has been through a lot in his first bit of life. There was a time of terrible illness due to severe allergies, a time where his life was in the hands of our amazing Stollery Children's Hospital. A time when I feared our initial newborn session might be all we have of him.

I thank God for his miracle of recovery. And I am thrilled to share Isaac's 6 month session.

It is beautiful how such a time brings us perspective, and love how his mom and dad have held several photo-sessions, each time including a new piece of Isaac's extended family. Everyone has had their chance to celebrate their baby Isaac. I hear Uncle Chris has asked to be next in line. Too cool.

We met at one of my favorite indoor locations in Sherwood Park. As I edited this session I thought: Every blue-eyed child should have a photo session here!

Six month sessions are especially scrumptious: all smiles, sitting, connection. And while baby has grown, he/she is still very much mom and dad's sweet little punkin'.

Isaac's six month session was a 45 minute edited session.

Baby Isla: Newborn Photography

This sweet little family just became four! Baby Isla visited my studio on her 11th day in this world. We updated the family photos, caught some sweet moments between her and her big brother Eli, and made sure to capture all of her sweet lil' baby parts - so mom and dad can always remember how little she once was!

Newborn sessions can take place in your home or my studio, whichever is easiest for you. Birth photos are also possible. I recommend scheduling your newborn session as soon as baby arrives, to take place within the first 10 days of life. If you would like to learn more, please contact me.

Andy, 10 days old | Edmonton Newborn Photography

Andy is a most beautiful little brother to Will, bringing a new and precious dimension to an already darling family. It is amazing how you think you have everything until a new baby comes into your life, and they bring you so much, you  wonder how you ever felt whole without them.

I was honoured to capture this moment in time for the Munroe family, who welcomed their newest baby boy into their family early this month. Andy didn't feel very sleepy during his session, but was very cooperative  nonetheless. Sweet moments, and a beautiful connection between the four of them. I can't help but be so excited for all of their memories to come.

Enjoy.

Here are a few favorites, Enjoy!
