Sherwood Park Newborn Session

There is nothing better than entering the home of a newly birthed - family! Adelyn's parents are so smitten with her, they are beautiful as a family of three. I was honored to be able to capture these sweet moments for all of them to enjoy forever. Even fur-baby Jaxson got in on the action!

Newborn Sessions can be photographed in your home, preferably in the first week of baby's life for those curly, sleepy baby pictures. Newborn sessions are $200 +GST.

Why Family Photography Is Important

A fellow photographer posed an FB question last night about whether photogs that do family photography are just in it for the money. He went on to call it cookie cutter photography, and said he would rather work with motivated models than a family consisting of dad who doesn't want to be there, and screaming children.

This got my fire up a little.

I truly believe that what I do is important. I certainly appreciate the beauty of model/styled photography, but move over buddy - let's examine what I'm offering the world. True connection. Love. Togetherness.  Celebrating Us.

A family who comes to me for photography is hoping to capture this moment in their lives. The kids are just this size, their personalities unique, the family synergy just so.  It won't be the same next year, but it is and always will be a part of who they are. Mom wants to remember now, the kids will look back on these images to remember who they are and where they came from.  Even dad will appreciate that he took the time to stand with his little girl or son who will grow up right before his eyes.

I captured a newborn session where 3 days later baby was rushed into the Stollery for emergency surgery, and spent several weeks fighting for his life. He succeeded.
I've captured an extended family session for a family who had talked about doing this for years - and regretted not doing one sooner when grandpa passed away suddenly. So they honored him by doing it anyway, one year after his passing. His cane sat in each of the pictures.
I've worked with a newly single mom who was bravely taking her first steps without dad - and used a photography session as a way to redefine - this is our family now. And that is okay.
And I've seen families grow in both number and size, I've seen babies go from push-ups to sitting, to standing and gulp - running!

There is nothing that I love more on this Earth than my three boys, and I recognize and aim to capture that love and connection in each family that comes before my camera.

Because they are worth celebrating.
